Mansfield Ambulance was once again deployed by FEMA for hurricane Ike. MAS crews were deployed on Tuesday - September 9, 2008 to San Antonio, Texas in anticipation of widespread coastal evacuations for hurricane Ike. Four MAS ALS crews arrived at Kelly Air Force Base along with hundreds of other ambulances awaiting orders. Those orders took MAS to hospitals along Ike's ground-zero at Galveston where hospital patients were evacuated to inland facilities in Austin, Texas. After completing their evacuation trips, three units were located at the staging area at Kelly AFB and one crew rode the storm out at the Alexandria, LA base after evacuating a ptient to Shreveport, LA.

Following Ike's impact the crew have been relocated to Houston. Most Houston area hospitals were without power following Ike's impact and as of Sunday they were beginning to evacuate patients to San Antonio.

Five new MAS personnel were deployed for hurricane Ike including Chris Mullennex, Laurie Cosner, Dan Faust, Megan Blair and Doug Green. They join Gustav personnel Chris Kennedy, Joe Hoffer and Eric Dzugan. The crews expect to be deployed in the region for at least two weeks.
